What is holistic healing? It is a term used by alternative medicine advocates to describe medical care that views mental, physical, and spiritual aspects of life as closely interconnected and balanced. Holistic health uses many alternative methods to promote general well being of the body through balanced methods that work in harmony.

Many people believe that using creams and gels to cure acne scars only helps with the symptoms, it is believed that to actually cure the acne fuerther steps need to be taken. Diet is a major factor, we have all heard that eating too much candy causes acne but it goes a lot deeper than that.

Physical activity can also have a major effect on acne, excercising the right way for the right amount of time can be vital. There are also psyhological influences that can help. Consuming natural herbs instead of expensive creams will also help. Avoiding stress and insomnia, and generally being healthy in all aspects of life is important.

Basically for those that suffer from acne scars, treating the body as a whole is better than applying a gel to your face. A healthy body and immune system, combined with taking specific action to help avoid acne is advisable. Holistic acne treatment suggests being healthy inside your body as well as outside.

1. Act fast to remove scars. The most important thing to remember is that old scars are more difficult to remove. Beginning scar treatment early will really make a huge difference. You should take action as soon as the scar has healed and the skin is red.

2. Keep the scar moist. Skin heals better when it doesn’t scab. So use scar gels or creams reguarly to keep the area from drying up which will lead to cracks in the skin. You should drink plenty of water too so that your body is hydrated well from the inside too.

3. Choose the best scar treatment products. Don;t just pick up the first cream or gel you see in the local pharmacy. Different scars will need different products to treat them. Choose carefully depending on the injury you have. It is often best to use a combination of different products and they need not cost the earth to buy.

4. Make sure your diet is healthy. Besides drinking plenty of water, eating the right foods can help the body to heal itself too. The human body has excellent healing methods but making sure you have the correct vitamins is essential for maximum benefits. Eating food rich in Vitamin E and Vitamin C will help, or a multi vitamin will also provide these excellent scar healing elements.

5. Get some expert scar removal advice. This can include visiting a dermatologist (skin care specialist) or even your local doctor. There are also products available online like The Scar Solution which give great advice for the different methods for all types of scars.

Acne is a menace. However, it’s not something that cannot be tackled. There are loads of acne skin care products around. We can classify acne treatments products into 3 broad categories –

* Preventive or general acne skin care products

* Over-the-counter, specialised acne skin care products

* On-prescription acne skin care products.

The general acne skin care products are the ones that are used as acne-prevention measure. These include cleansers, make-up removers and similar products that help prevent acne. In the real sense, these acne skin care products are just those that should anyway be part of your daily routine. However, some of these are more oriented to act like an acne skin care product. These products act against the causes of acne e.g. limiting the production of sebum/oil and preventing clogging of skin pores. Basically, they prevent the oil from getting trapped in pores and hence hamper the growth of bacteria that lead to acne. The general acne skin care products also include exfoliation products like skin peels. These work towards removing dead skin cells, hence reducing the possibility of pore-clogging and bacteria development.

Then there are specialised acne skin care products that are available over-the-counter i.e. without the need of a prescription. These include products like vanishing creams which extract the extra oil from the skin. Most of these acne skin care products are based on benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid, both of which are the enemies of bacteria (and hence acne). You should start with a product that has lower concentration of benzoyl peroxide (e.g. 5%) and see how your skin responds to it. Alpha-hydroxy-acid based moisturizers are also popular. You might have to try a few, before you zero-in on the one that is most effective for you. If nothing seems to work, you should contact a dermatologist.

Prescription acne skin care products are the ones that are prescribed by a dermatologist. This can include ointments that can be applied on the affected area or oral antibiotics or just any topical treatment for removing acne. Dermatologist could also suggest a minor surgical procedure to remove the contents of pustules. However, never try to squeeze or do this by yourself, it can lead to permanent damage of your skin. Your doctor could also prescribe a hormone-based acne treatments (since hormonal changes are also known to cause acne). Such acne skin care products are known to be very effective in some cases.

Some useful tips to prevent acne:

Understanding why the body produces acne is important if you want to prevent acne even appearing. Many people all over the world wish they could prevent acne before it makes their face blotchy and even scars their face. The key to stopping it before it has a chance to develop is by enjoying a healthy lifestyle.

When I was around 10 years old, my older brother was 15 and he suffered from very bad acne. I always noticed (and so did he) then it appeared when he ate sugar and candy. He loved sugary foods though and therefore he would regularly flare up with a new attack of acne. He just didn’t seem to want to stop it. A few years later I realised I was just as likely to get acne, but I was determined to prevent acne by avoiding candy. It was simple but it worked, I still got flare ups but nowhere near as bad as my older brother.

The key here to prevent acne is to eat well. Since that most basic of things (avoiding candy), I have learnt there are many other ways to prevent an acne attack. Here are some proven ways to help prevent acne:

- Proper skin care. Many people that suffer from acne over do this. Avoiding oily skin is absolutely key, but a lot of people end up damaging their skin by overdoing this. If you wash too often with the wrong lotion or soap, you run the risk of drying the skin. Healthy skin can be attained by having a healthy diet (see below) and using a soap that is suited for your complexion. I recommend trying a product which won’t dry out the skin and won’t require you to wash more than twice a day.

- Proper diet to promote healthy skin. This is the most important way to prevent acne in my opinion. Drink plenty of water or other no sugary liquids, this helps to keep the body hydrated which means the skin won’t dry out. Avoid eating bad foods especially to much sugar and fat. The body doesn’t want these things inside it so it will try and excrete them through pores, this helps to create oily skin which is an acne breeding ground. Eat foods with vitamin E in them, this is a great idea as vitamin E is promotes healthy skin which in turn can help to prevent acne.

- The third tip to help you prevent acne is not for everyone but can be beneficial. Maintaining a healthy mental balance can actually help. It is no coincidence that teenagers going through puberty experience acne. It is a life changing time and can cause stress for many. Avoiding stress and negativity can do wonders for the complexion. This is easier said than done but if you find yourself getting worked up to easily, try and calm yourself by taking a deep breath and focusing on logical thoughts. Stress comes from anxiety which is often an unnecessary emotion. Just being aware of that fact is often enough to calm a person down.

How to prevent acne summary: To summarize, avoid oily and dry skin by cleaning moderately with a good soap or face lotion. Drink plenty of water or tea to avoid oily skin and keep it hydrated. at food rich in vitamin E to maintain healthy skin. Vitamin E is also available in capsules which can be taken daily like multi vitamins. And keep a healthy mind by avoiding worry and stress, take some extra ‘me time’. When you get worked up, take a step back and ask yourself “is there really any need for me to get agitated so much over something so trivial?” The key to preventing acne is to be healthy inside and out. It isn’t enough just to buy the latest acne skin care product. Simply improving overall health in the body and mind is just as important as your skin care routine.

When people have acne scars or any other type of scar on their skin, they naturally feel self conscious. It is thought that scarring makes people ugly and therefore people don’t want to face the world like before. It is very common for someone with skin blemishes to shy away from social situations. Especially with facial scars because they cannot be concealed easily.

Scars eventually fade to a level that most people find acceptable, but facial acne scars can leave a person feeling ugly for many years to come. The emotional effect of having scars is worse than the physical factor as it damages a person from inside. A person cannot be happy without confidence to face and enjoy the world.

Avoiding any type of skin blemishes is of course the most important thing. People that suffer from acne should find a good method to combat it before scars form. There are herbal acne treatments that come in the form of acne capsules or other remedies. There are topical creams and gels which can also be very effective.

The likelihood is that you already have scarring if you are on this site. So you should find the information you need here to actually combat the ugly effects that they have on the skin. To summarize the options, there is scar surgery which is the best option. It is fast and gives excellent results to most people. Of course cosmetic surgery for acne scars and other is very expensive. If you are unsure of the costs try visiting some clinics web sites for ideas, or email a local clinic (be sure to send a photo so they can give you an accurate price guide).

For most people, surgery is just too expensive. The second option is therefore to treat the scars with topical creams. There is a very wide range of products available and using a combination is usually most effective. To get the right products and amounts it is worth buying a guide like The Scar Solution. A guide like that explains which products to use, how often to use them, and other techniques like nutrition and massage that can help the skin heal.

The third option is to let the scars heal naturally, many people do this or leave scar treatments until its too late. This will prolong feelings of isolation from society as confidence drops. Acting fast is the key, it will remove the problem from the skin and stop emotional problems. Once someone gets used to hiding from the world, it can be a difficult habit to break. The key to successful scar treatment is to be very aggressive and persistent with your treatment as soon as possible.

Hypertrophic scar treatment differs from other scar removal methods. Hypertrophic scars are formed from growth of collagen tissue. The can resemble keloid scars but are not as permanent. They do not grow bigger than the original wound, but don’t continue growing after a certain point. Eventually most hypertrophic scars will go away, but some just stop growing. Hypertropic scar treatment is still advised as these protrude from the skin with excess material. They are not pretty to look at so removal is what most people want.

For most people with hypertropic scars, the most usual way to remove them is to inject steroids into the skin. These treatments are done regularly for over 1 month. Hypertropic scar treatment with steroid injections must be spaced out like this to avoid over treating the area. Over time the patient will notice the size decreasing and the color returning to normal.

More recent advances in technology allow for hypertropic scar removal with pulse dyed lasers. Treatments are again spaced out, although less are needed for these lasers. They work by killing the scar tissue and allowing the body to grow new healthier tissue in place of the scar.

In severe cases of hypertropic scarring, surgery can be carried out. This involved removing the whole scar, then letting the body repair itself with the help of silicone sheets placed over the skin.

Less serious scars may be reduced with silicone sheets alone. They are placed over the skin at night. These work best with very new scars, some people report that they are useless on older ones. In the daytime topical gels and creams can be used. Choose ones specifically made for hypertrophic scar removal. They can reduce the size of the build up, it is worth using scar massage techniques at the same time which helps to loosen the tissue under the skin.

Mederma is a very popular scar treatment cream. The main ingredient is onion extract which is said to have anti inflammatory effects. This may help to make raised scars less obvious, but there doesn’t seem to be proof of this. Like with many topical scar treatment products Mederma’s effects are very gradual. If you do decide that this Mederma review has convinced you to try it, then be prepared to apply it a few times a day for months.

Judging from other Mederma reviews online, it seems that many people give up on this product. The key to scar treatment is persistence if using creams or gels. These products are here to aid the bodies natural healing process, they cannot magically transform scar tissue over night. If you are confident this is a product for you, be prepared to apply it consistently for months. Mederma isn’t a cheap scar removal product, so it will just be a waste of money if you don’t stick with it.

This Mederma review is aimed at people with mild scars. No product like this will have a fast acting effect on serious scars. However many people have had positive results with Mederma. If you can afford the relatively high cost (around $25 for a small tube), then give it a try. The onion extract inside this cream is said to have an effect on collagen formation and may help to repair damaged skin.

Millions of people get scars of some sort in their lives. In the US around 10 million people have suffered from acne scars alone. There are also scars from cuts and other injuries, stretch marks and burns. Getting rid of scars early is very important, the longer they are left alone, the more difficult treatment will be. For any injuries it is best to wait for the tissue to stop scabbing, then begin treating the area. Acne scars are different, they can be treated before they have even appeared.

Using an effective acne control cream can stop any future scarring before it has even begun.Different types of scar will require different courses of treatment, but acting fast is vital. Older scars can still be treated but more time and effort will be required. The body is designed to heal itself, this is why scars eventually disappear.

We can help the body by ensuring that certain things are there to help speed up the process. Make sure you are drinking plenty of water, this helps to hydrate the skin to prevent dryness. Keeping scars moist helps to speed up the healing process. Make sure you are eating a healthy diet, if you aren’t getting plenty of vitamin rich food you can take a multi-vitamin supplement. The most important vitamins for scar removal are vitamin E and vitamin C. Protein is also important for the body to heal itself.

Getting rid of scars can be achieved by applying certain creams and gels to the affected area. These products will vary depending on the type of scar you have. There are lots of them available, here is a brief list but you should check which ones are best for which situation you are in before trying them as some are not cheap. Some creams and gels include bio gel, Mederma, cocoa butter, aloe vera, rosehip oil, onion extract, vitamin E cream.

The best idea is to get some information from a professional. Dermatologists can be expensive but they are skin specialists and will be excellent sources of advice. Your local doctor will also be able to help or refer you to someone better qualified. For milder scarring your local pharmacist should be able to point you in the right direction, although some are less helpful and knowledgeable than others. There are also some good online sources to find out about the best ways to remove scars.

The main thing to remember is to act quickly, scars don’t just look bad, they also destroy self esteem in people. Loosing confidence in social situations can be more serious than an unsightly mark on the skin. If you have suffered from an injury then you should visit the hospital or at least your doctor if you have a deep wound or severe burn. Professional advice is always the advisable, it is best to be safe than sorry later. I hope this page called ‘how to remove scars’ helped.

The best scar treatment varies from scar to scar. Acne, stretch marks, cuts, burns and surgical scars all require different methods of treatment. There are also more categories including hyper tropic scars and keloid scars. Search through this site for your specific needs and advice.
The best scar treatment advice we can give you in general is too be persistent. Scars fade slowly without cosmetic surgery, laser scar surgery can be very expensive so for other people you may find the following useful:

Keep the skin hydrated. This can be achieved by drinking plenty of liquid and applying moisturizing creams to the area.

Maintain a healthy diet. Even the best scar treatments rely on the bodies ability to repair itself. Eating food rich in vitamin E and other vitamins and minerals will promote good skin cell regeneration.

Scar massage is usually a good idea for people that want better skin. Gently rubbing the area with a lotion helps to stimulate red blood cells which can lead to a scar’s appearance lessening.

Choose a treatment and stick with it. There is no point applying a cream randomly or giving up, once you decide to try a specific treatment, give it a chance to work.

We generally believe that most scars will eventually fade away. There are topical creams and gels which help to speed up the process. For facial scars it is a good idea to inquire with a local skin clinic or private dermatologist. This can be done in person or by sending a photo online. For most parts of the body people can usually accept the long wait before a scar fades (even with expensive creams), but facial scars also carry the added disadvantage of emotional pain too. Acting fast is therefore the best idea, and spending a lot on the best treatment will usually be worth it.

Before considering acne scar laser treatment you should be absolutely sure it is needed. If acne scars are still new, there are some topical products to treat them. Usually a dermatologist will recommend acne scar laser treatment on older scars which are much more difficult to treat.

The traditional way of treating scars is dermabrasion, however acne scar laser treatment has become more popular in recent years. The laser basically removed the scar tissue and allows the body to regenerate normal skin in the scars place.

Acne laser treatment is not a one time procedure. Sessions are carried out over a period of 2-3 months initially depending on the severity and age of the scars. Then follow up treatments are often required. It is vital to space treatment out like this to avoid over treating the skin and damaging it. Space must be left before laser treatments to assess progress.

There are different types of laser treatments for acne scars like non ablative, ablative, and Vbeam lasers. Your clinic or dermatologist will be able to give you information specific to your needs at the consultation. Initial consultations are often done online now, by sending in a photograph of the acne. You will then receive a reply with recommended procedures and an idea of costs. A personal consultation will always be required before the actual treatment can progress, but this is a convenient way of getting the ball rolling.

Laser treatments for acne scars are not cheap, but the benefits are usually worth it. Most people report back with positive results, even if the scars don’t vanish completely. Having acne scarring on your face is not pretty and can seriously harm a person’s confidence. Even if you can’t afford the treatments, it is often worth doing still. This is because a person will feel better about themselves not just on the outside, but on the inside too.

It is recommended to get in contact with local dermatologists or skin clinics. Get a consultation and find out the options available. There will be side effects like redness and swelling but these quickly subside and most people are very happy they decided on acne laser scar treatment.
