Scar Treatment with Cocoa Butter

Cocoa butter is a product most women will recognize as it is available as a lotion in many stores and pharmacists. It is sold as a popular skin moisturizer and many people that get a new scar will be pleasantly surprised to know that it can help. This is because lots of people may already have a jar of it in the cupboard.

Scar treatment with cocoa butter works by massaging the cream onto the effected area. The moisturizing power of the cream helps to break down collagen which is what scars are formed out of. Keeping damaged skin hydrated is essential for repair, so this cream works in both ways. It is a light cream so combining this with scar massage techniques is a good idea. This will further stimulate the tissue and breakdown more collagen.

It should be noted that lotions available in most stores are very mild. They are fine to use with massaging and keeping the skin hydrated, but will unlikely have many other benefits. Scar treatment with cocoa butter is best when pure cocoa butter is used. You will have to search harder to find this but it is worth it.

Real cocoa butter is a strange substance, the closest thing I can compare it to is clay. It seems messy at first but many people report with good results from using it. Pure cocoa butter is very good too at moisturizing the skin, it can be applied a few times a day, ideally with some massaging at the same time.
